"Anfang 1964 beschloß das Land Baden-Württemberg die Gründung einer Universität in Konstanz. Bereits um die Jahreswende 1964/65 nahm die Bibliothek ihre Dienstgeschäfte auf, eineinhalb Jahre vor Beginn des Gründung Studienbetriebes im Herbst 1966. 1972/73: Umzug der Bibliothek in die endgültigen Räume der Bibliotheksverwaltung, des Informationszentrums und des Buchbereichs "Geisteswissenschaften". Herbst 1976: Bezug des Buchbereichs "Sozialwissenschaften". Herbst 1982: Bezug des Buchbereichs "Naturwissenschaften". 1985: Einrichtung der Mediothek.
