'The Ground Beneath Our Feet' is a series of documentary films and accompanying web sites that explore the history of Virginia since the Civil War." Currently four episodes are available. Episode 1, New Deal Virginia, "tells the story of rural Virginians in the New Deal era and the changes that the New Deal brought to Virginia." Episode 2, Reconfiguring Virginia , "explores the sectional crisis of 1860-61 in Virginia and the splitting of the commonwealth into two states--Virginia and West Virginia--during the Civil War." Episode 3, Massive Resistance, deals with "Virginia's policy to prevent school desegregation", and episode 4, Virginia Fights: World War II, "explores the transformative changes that Virginia experienced in World War II." Four each episode source materials are provided (e.g. documents, images, maps, and multimedia material) depending on the topic.
