The Institute "is an interdisciplinary institution. It consists of faculty of the Departments of English and French Literature and Linguistics, Geography, History, Political Science and Sociology, thus representing the core disciplines of area studies. Its research activities cover a wide range of topics. The Institute administers the only MA-Programme in Canadian Studies at a German-speaking university. In addition, the Augsburg Institute facilitates academic exchanges and research co-operation between Canadian and German universities, and the national and international Canadian Studies Communities."
