"Out of All Scale: Indexicality and the Magnitude of the Present"
The project hypothesizes that a sense of presence is effectuated by indexical signs--and thus is not a matter of perception by the five senses. An index can link us to presences of supra-sensual scale, for example, to communism or the free-market economy, things that otherwise exceed the boundaries of a normal perception.
