Scottish Place-Name Society

The Society, launched in February 1996, exists for the support of all aspects of toponymic studies in Scotland, and in particular the work of the Scottish Place-Name Database at the University of St. Andrews and the University of Edinburgh. The Society circulates a newsletter to members, Scottish Place-Name News", at least once a year." The site offers information about Scottish place names, their meaning and origin. There are also a bibliography and links to other related sites. The site gives a good account of research about this subject.
