Weniger bekannt sind heute die Arbeiten für das Theater, viele nicht publizierte Entwürfe und das Montagematerial, das er sammelte. Über 6.000 Werke aus Heartfields Nachlass haben sich in der Kunstsammlung der Akademie der Künste erhalten.
